Over the weekend we finally started putting some of the objectives of our trust into motion. If you remember, a while back we were selling Team Dynamite shirts to raise money for our return to defend at W4G. As the international battle didn’t happen this year, we redirected the money into some charitable causes locally. We decided to focus on regions of the country where kids would benefit from a day of painting, learning a bit about living as a creative and in the process, we would brighten up some local skate parks and youth centres. The first was the Atomic Youth Centre in Hastings. This place is amazing. It truly is the epicenter of everything youth related in Hastings, it boasts a skate park, playstations and b-ball court. The kids are banging on the door hours before opening waiting to get in and they are there to closing. It’s free entry and definitely the best place to hang out on the weekends down there. The skate park just got funding for a major upgrade which is awesome because although it is well used and the kids are happy to make do, it’s definitely pretty rugged. It just shows it doesn’t need to be the flashest facilities in the world, it’s more the environment they have created there that creates the magic. We painted the outdoor carpark wall, with help from the kids and after closing, painted the inside walls. Much love to the staff down there for the hospitality and hope you guys are happy with the new paint job!
